Login to Remember your Favorite Animals and Breeds!

Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.

MY NAME IS COPA, A GRAY TABBY MAINCOON MIX. I USED TO LIVE AT THE SAFARY HOTEL WITH MANY OTHER CATS. I WAS TRAPPED ON A TNR (TRAP, NEUTER AND RETURN) EFFORTS TO CONTROL FERAL CATS POPULATION. THE NIGHT THAT I WENT INTO THE TRAP, DUE TO STRESS I GAVE BIRTH TO MY 3 KITTENS. ONE PASSED 2 WEEKS LATER AFTER BIRTH AND  MY 2 OTHER KITTENS WERE NAMED GUARIONEX AND YAHIMA. THEY BOTH WERE ADOPTED TO GREAT HOME WHERE THEY ARE GETTING LOTS OF LOVE. BECAUSE MY KITTENS WERE BORN PREMATURE THEY HAD FEW ISSUES. YAHIMA WAS BORN WITH A REVERSE STERNUM BUT DURING HER DEVELOPMENT HER STERNUM GREW BACK TO NORMAL AND SHE WAS JUST FINE. MY BOY GUARIONEX WAS BORN WITH CEREBELLAR HYPOPLASIA. SOUNDS BAD RIGHT, BUT ALL THAT IS THAT MY LITTLE BOY HAD SOME BALANCE PROBLEMS AND WALKS FUNNY, BUT OVERALL HE IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY KITTEN.

WELL THAT IS PART OF MY PAST WHAT ABOUT ME? WELL  MY FOSTER MOMMY DIDN'T WANT TO RELEASE ME UNTIL MY KITTENS WERE STRONG. SHE WAS AFFRAID THAT BY SETTING ME FREE MY KITTENS WOULD TAKE A TURN FOR THE WORSE. MY FOSTER UNDERSTOOD THAT MY KITTENS NEEDED ME AND DECIDED IT TO DELAY RELEASE DAY FOR ME. WELL TIME WENT BY AND SHE KNEW THAT SENDING ME BACK TO MY COLONY WAS GOING TO BE EXTREMELY HARD FOR ME TO ADJUST, SO SHE DECIDED TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE TO WORK WITH ME. REMEMBER I WAS A  CAT THAT NEVER HAD HUMAN INTERACTION BEFORE AND TURN ME INTO AN ADOPTABLE CAT WAS GOING TO TAKE TIME. ONE DAY MY FOSTER WAS PETTING ME AND I GAVE HER THE BEST GIFT, I LEARNED HOW TO PURR :-). I THINK SHE CRIED THAT DAY! I ALSO STARTED TO MEOW WHEN HUNGRY AND I WAS NO LONGER QUIET.

SOMETHING YOU MUST UNDERSTAND IS THAT I AM EXTREMELY INSECURE AND PICKING ME IN YOUR ARMS IS VERY SCARY FOR ME, BUT IF YOU HOLD ME CLOSE TO YOUR BODY AND TELL ME THAT IT IS OK AND PET MY HEAD I WILL EVENTUALLY WILL RELAX A LITTLE. I HAVE TO LEARN TO TRUST MY NEW OWNER. I WILL ALSO NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH ME. MY LIFE WASN'T PERFECT FROM THE START AND I GOT A SECOND CHANCE. I NEED TO GO TO A HOME WHERE I CAN RELAX AND LEARN TO TRUST MY NEW FAMILY. I NEED SOMEONE THAT WILL UNDERSTAND THAT IF I HIDE UNDER THE COUCH ALL DAY AND NIGHT AND ONLY COME OUT WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND TO EAT, AND THAT WILL BE OK WITH THEM. SUGGESTION TO INTRODUCE ME TO MY NEW HOME AND FAMILY IS TO KEEP ME IN A SMALLER AREA LIKE THE BATHROOM OF THE HOUSE  WERE I CAN'T HIDE FROM YOU SO WE CAN GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER.

COPA MUST BE ADOPTED WITH TANGO. THEY MET AND BONDED DURING FOSTERING AND THEY BECAME CLOSE FRIENDS. TANGO IS COPA'S SECURITY BLANKET.
