Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.

July 25, 2012 - Update on Poofer!  Once more he was abandoned by his adopted mother - and found by another good person who took him in and cared for him while trying to locate his adopter. He still loves to get petted but doesn't like to be picked up. His savior told me that he is a really nice cat and at least I know he has been safe during the past few weeks but who knows how long he was outside until he was found?  Prior to this recent trauma, Poofer was found by a good samaritan who had him neutered and given all of his vaccines.  He was afraid of her dog so he escaped her apartment.  She had to move out of the country and left Poofer behind, with food and hope that someone would care for him.  A few months' later another good samaritan found Poofer, and brought him to Candy's Cats.

Poofer has adjusted to other cats being with him.  He is keen on Tammie, our medium-haired orange beauty.  He is TERRIFIED of dogs.  Poofer is very sweet, loves to be pet but hates to be picked up.  If you are watching tv, he'll come up next to you and let you pet him and rub him.  If you pick him up he gets frightened as he is a nervous cat.  He loves to be pet and isn't afraid of men.  He adores his wet food and prefers it to dry but will eat both.

He may try to get out of your house since he's used to outdoors so a secure, screened in patio would probably satisfy that curiousity for him.
