Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.
Tiger and Mittens are 7 year old kitties who have resided in a skilled nursing care facility as pet therapy pets since they were approx. 7 months old. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the facility is no longer able to keep these loveable kitties. They have remained together and have always been kept inside their entire life since they were rescued. Tiger is a big, loveable boy who can be shy at times until he gets to know you. He loves to be petted and rub against you. He also has a loud purr when he is content. Tiger will allow you to hold him for a short time but prefers to just be petted. Tiger is appropriately named for his tiger like stripes. Mittens is a black and white female. She can be shy at times as well until she gets to know you. She responds well to being called “Mitty”. Mittens loves to be petted but not necessarily held for too long. Mittens is a little more adventurous than her brother. She is curious about everything and loves to explore but her favorite thing to do is gazing out the window. Both Tiger and Mittens love to play with the “fishing wand toys” , especially with anything feathery on the end and also trying to catch the elusive red dot toys. They currently have been eating dry food the most (Purina One) but do enjoy wet food every now and then for a treat. They also enjoy the hard crunchy treats as well. Ideally, they would do best in a household with adults since that is who they have been around the most. They are tolerant of other cats and dogs, but have had limited exposure to them. Both kitties have been spayed/neutered and are up to date on their shots as of 4/9/2019. At that time, they were also retested tested for feline aids and leukemia. Both were negative as well as fecal tests. Both cats have been healthy with no health issues noted.
Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable kitties. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $125. In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go to www.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you. Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats. Thank you once more for your interest in our wonderful cats; we hope we can find one that is the perfect fit for you and your home.
