Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Baby
Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.
UPDATE on Timmy:
This little boy is amazing! He has a loving personality that is quick to purr and yet he has endured great levels of pain and discomfort. Timmy was discovered and rescued shortly after July 4. He was thin, weak and had an injured leg. The vets determined the best course of action was to remove the leg as the infection had set into the bone. Timmy was up and playing in less than 24 hours after the amputation and he has not stopped since. He hugs, loves and plays! What a true find!
The night of July 5th, a friend of one of Candy's Cats volunteers heard a tiny meow coming from the church from across the street from her house. It was from a tiny kitten, hiding under a parked car. He was terrified, and wouldn't allow her to get close without running away. Over the course of several days, she was able to coax him closer and closer to her house with tuna. As he got closer, she saw he had what appeared to be an injured rear paw. Other neighborhood ferals started noticing the food, and would bully him, running him off to have it for themselves, so the girl spent several hours luring him onto her enclosed porch with tuna, and shut the door. He was scared at first, and hid behind some boxes, but once he realized he was safe, and that there was food and water down for him, he relaxed, and came out of hiding to eat. After a few hours, he allowed her to pet him, and he purred the loudest purr she'd ever heard! She posted his story on social media, and one of our volunteers was captivated by his story and the photos of his sweet little face. Our volunteer picked him up the next day, got him cleaned up, fed, and safe. It appears that he was born with a malformed right rear foot, but it hasn't slowed him down! He LOVES being petted and held, and we think he knows he's been given a chance at life he didn't have before.
Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable kitties. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $125. In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go to www.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you. Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats. Thank you once more for your interest in our wonderful cats; we hope we can find one that is the perfect fit for you and your home.
