Candy's Cats

Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process. 

Nyx's Story, in "Her Words"

Hi. I'm Nyx and I look like a mini black panther.  Saturday night party time?  I have on my LBD and ready to charm everyone. 

I'm really unique. I know. Cats say that all the time, but I am. For one thing, I prefer the company of humans, but with slow introduction will enjoy another cat.  But, I am very assertive and they will need to know that one minute I want to play and chase, and then I don't, and when I don't, I puff up like a Halloween kitty (which seems to scare them, but I don't know why.)

I do need my 'safe' place to go to and when I hear something or you have company, I will want to retreat to my safe place until I am ready to make an appearance. I am very intuitive about what is going on around me and in me.  I'm quirky, rarely silly, not aggressive, but not one of those mamby-pamby kitties, always hiding.

I love to talk.  Yes, I'm a chatty kitty, will dazzle you with my wit and personality - you will talk to me, too. You can't help yourself.  I'm rather intelligent, too, as you will find out.

At the end of the day, I want to curl up and sleep with my human.  I love the closeness, the good night pets and feeling safe and secure with you.  I know you are out there.

From the foster:  When Nyx was a kitten, she had tummy problems, and after trying different foods, including a raw food only, she has fully recovered from her tummy problems as a young kitten.  We feed a very high quality dry kibble and she gets wet food several times a day.  She has to have wet food. Unfortunately, she likes one of the cheaper pates out there.  She should be fed separately from your other cats or she growls and swats.  Since she's not a big kitty, she's just a lot of noise with nothing to follow through.

Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable kitties. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $125.

In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go to www.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you.

Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats.
